Leave the Crown Inn, also known as the Cherry Brandy House, and turn left. Keep on slightly uphill out of the village. Just before the end of the houses on the left, turn left up the approach to Sarre Mill.
Keep forward passing the car park and mill shop on the righthand side.
Go through a wooden field gate to pass close by the mill itself.
Immediately bear right past the mill house then slightly left to follow a track down to a main road. Turn right up the pavement a few paces.
Cross the road with care and go straight ahead on a footpath going away from the road with a hedge on the left.
Soon meet a cross path which is asphalted. Turn right on this path and head straight downhill towards a line of trees.
On reaching the trees enter a path enclosed between bushes and follow this around to a metal gate. Go through the gate and keep on, now uphill, directly towards the village of St. Nicholas-at-Wade on the hill ahead.
At the top of the hill just before the first houses on the left, turn left off the footpath onto the end of a road. Keep along the road to a junction.
Here turn right along another road going up past the school on the left to reach acrossroads.
Turn right to pass the church on the left and soon pass between two public houses, The Sun and The Bell.
Turn right down the first turning on the right and where this road bears left go straight ahead into a recreation ground. Keep forward along the edge of the recreation ground with trees and bushes on the left.
At the top corner of the recreation ground go forward between trees into a field. Turn right to follow the field edge which soon turns left.
Stay on the path as it heads downhill back towards Sarre. This is the route of the outward walk. At the bottom of the hill go through the gate into the enclosed path.
At the other end go slightly uphill. Do not turn off to Sarre Mill but keep straight ahead eventually going along with a hedge on the left.
Finally emerge by houses down onto the main road in Sarre. Turn right a few steps to regain The King’s Head.
