Walk Instructions

With the Hook & Hatchet behind, turn right down the road passing the car park on your right. Stay on the road round right then lefthand bends, then steeply uphill.

Ignore an equestrian gate on left opposite Hucking Court Barn and keep forward to reach Hucking church on the right.

Opposite church, turn left down a narrow enclosed path between hedges. In 10 metres, turn right through a wicket gate and continue through trees.

Reach a metal kissing gate into a pasture and go straight across. Go through a metal kissing gate by a wooden fieldgate at the far side and then forward on a grassy path.

Exit through a wooden kissing gate to a road and cross to a metal kissing gate opposite. Go straight on, up by the hedge on your right.

Exit through a wooden wicket gate and keep on down to a metal fieldgate. Go forward down to the foot of the valley below.

At the bottom bear across left to a metal kissing gate into Gorham Wood. Keep along a basically straight path through the wood for ½ mile.

Ignore all side turnings. On reaching a metal fieldgate halfway, bear left, still on the enclosed forest path. Eventually ignore a stile  off right and continue to a road.

Cross to a footpath into a wood. Soon reach a junction and turn right. At a Y-fork bear right, steeply uphill.

At the top enter a field and go forward, very slightly right of a telegraph pole at the far side. This was very difficult as the path was not reinstated through the crop.

At the far side go under overhead wires to trees around the field edge and a tucked away corner. Go 20 metres right of this corner for a stile into a sloping pasture beyond.

Go straight down the field edge then up to a stile in the top corner. Cross to a road, Bicknor Lane, and turn right for 150 metres.

Pass a metal fieldgate on your left and 30 metres beyond look for a path off left between two stout trees (an unusable rusty metal fieldgate just beyond is the original entrance to the path).

Go up the side of an orchard with a hedge on your right. Keep on this main track for ¼ mile. At the top of a rise stay on the track as it bears left.

In 100 metres, look for a wooden swing gate by a wooden fieldgate on the right. Go through this into a field corner and bear diagonally left across the field (midway between pylons and just right of a house) to the far side.

Exit through the hedge and a wooden swing gate into a large paddock. Continue diagonally across to a stile onto a road just right of buildings.

Turn left up the busy road for a short way. Pass a house and drive on the right. Before the next house on the right climb a bank in the hedge to a metal kissing gate into a field corner. Go diagonally through several gates across three small pastures (some rare breeds here).

Reach a corner with trees and a drive on your right. Cross a flimsy stile out of the last pasture and go forward into a path enclosed between fences(do not join the vehicle drive going off right).

Keep down the path to a stile at the bottom. Cross into a sloping field and bear diagonally right down and across the field to the bottom right corner. Leave the field onto a path dropping down through woods.

Enter a vast sloping field. Bear very slightly right to the far top corner. Here exit by a metal fieldgate out to a road.

Cross to the path opposite. Find a broken stile and continue up the edge of a rough field to a double stile in the top corner.

Go very slightly right down the field ahead to a corner where the straight fence along the bottom of the field meets a wood pushing out into the field. Find a stile.

Cross and continue steeply down. Reach a flimsy stile into a vast pasture. Go all the way up by a hedge on your right to a stile in the top corner.

Cross and go through trees to a corner of a meadow. Keep on, up by the hedge on the right.

Reach a metal fieldgate with stile tucked away to the left and continue up the field, aiming left of houses ahead. Reach a stile onto a road.

Turn right past houses to a T-junction. Cross to a stile and enter a narrow sloping pasture.

Turn sharp left initially along the edge of the pasture, then bear diagonally right across to the top edge and keep along to the far end corner. Bear right through a gap into the next pasture.

Go forward about 20 metres to the end of a hedge coming up the hill. Turn left down this with it on your righthand side. In the bottom corner find a stile and cross to a rising meadow.

Go forward on a feint path. At a Y-fork bear right. Gradually climb the slope to a stile into trees at the top.

Continue up through the trees to a further stile into a  meadow. Bear right along the side across to a stile in the hedge in the far corner.

Cross in to a field and bear diagonally left across to a stile at the far side. Cross and turn left up a wide enclosed path. Cross a stile halfway then reach a metal kissing gate out to a road.

Turn right along the road soon emerging into the centre of Frinsted at a road junction. The church is just ahead at the start of the section.
